Celebrating 16 Years of Giving: Salina Regional Health Center Employees Donate Over $228,000 to Local Charities Through Jeans Day

SALINA, KANSAS – (October, 21, 2024) – Jeans Day at Salina Regional Health Center started in October 2009 as a fundraiser to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness month for the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. Since then, it has exceeded expectations so much that it expanded to help several area non-profit organizations and has become part of the employee culture at Salina Regional Health Center. Non-clinical and support personnel who want to wear jeans can donate $5 on Friday’s or during Jeans Week with all proceeds going to a designated local non-profit organization for that month. The Jeans Day initiative has donated over $228,000 to area charities since its conception. >> Read here

SRHC ranked No. 1 in state, 15th in the nation for hospital readmission rate

(September 30, 2024) – A recent report by Becker’s Hospital Review, citing information released from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Unplanned Hospital Visits data, shows Salina Regional Health Center is rated best in Kansas with a hospital readmission rate of 12.6%. The report also shows Salina Regional to be ranked 15th in the nation among U.S. hospitals. >> Read here

Salina Regional Health Center receives Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI reaccreditation

(June 13, 2024) – The American College of Cardiology has recognized Salina Regional Health Center for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain. Fe for a Cure Race/Walk announces new 1-mile fun run, adopts earlier start time for Sept. 21 event

(May 13, 2024) – One of the region’s most fun, family friendly and affordable running/walking events is making some changes to its format this year. The 9th annual Fe for A Cure 5K Race/Walk is adding a 1-mile fun run to its festivities and will move to an earlier 8 a.m. start time on Saturday, Sept. 21. Salina Regional Health Center earns an ‘A’ grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group

(May 1, 2024) – Salina Regional Health Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. >> Read here

SALINA, KANSAS (July, 13, 2023) – Salina Regional Health Center received the HOSA Future Health Professionals Leadership in Collaboration Award. HOSA, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, is composed of middle school, secondary, and post-secondary/collegiate students, along with professional, alumni, and honorary members. The mission of HOSA is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience. Salina Regional will allow limited visitors for inpatients beginning June 1

(May 29, 2020) - As restrictions begin to be lifted for the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the community, Salina Regional Health Center will make changes to its policies as warranted. Beginning Monday, June 1, inpatients at the hospital will be allowed to designate one consistent visitor to see them in their rooms. Exceptions would be that no visitors will be permitted for patients in isolation or those who have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Salina Regional implements special precautions for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

(March 12, 2020) – While there are currently no known cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Salina, Lindsborg and Concordia communities, Salina Regional Health Center, Lindsborg Community Hospital and Cloud County Health Center are working closely with state and local entities to ensure preparedness. (March 2, 2020) – In recognition of national Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, 800 free colorectal cancer screening kits are being made available to anyone age 45 to 75. The screening is recommended for those who have not had a recent colonoscopy. The kits can be picked up at all Salina and Lindsborg pharmacies, the Tammy Walker Cancer Center and Salina Family Healthcare Center while supplies last.

Salina Regional receives CNOR® Strong designation for second year in a row

(February 19, 2019) – Salina Regional Health Center has earned the Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR®) Strong designation from the national Competency and Credentialing Institute for the second year in a row. The CNOR® Strong designation is given to facilities that have at least 50 percent of its eligible operating room nursing staff CNOR® certified.
